OUR FINISHING TECHNOLOGY
Veneer appearance is one of the most visible aspects of finished Plywood.
The appearance of a plywood panel begins long before the veneer.
MorWood® develops specialized pigment technologies designed around the different stages of plywood veneer colour development—from resin pigmentation to veneer dipping and, where required, edge finishing.
Our approach considers the complete colour system rather than treating each pigment as an isolated product.
OUR VENEER COLOUR SYSTEM
A Three-Step Approach to Controlled Appearance.
MorWood® approaches veneer colour development through a structured application sequence.
03
EDGE PIGMENTS
Where required, the third stage is edge pigmentation.
The first stage begins with the resin pigment.
Edge pigments are an optional finishing solution used when the manufacturer requires the edges of the finished plywood or board to achieve a more uniform visual appearance.

Decorative applications
Colour matching
TECHNOLOGY
FSL - Face Side Layering
Specialized pigments systems developed for edges application to match the veneer surface.
02
DIPPING PIGMENTS
Develop the Face-Veneer Colour.
The second stage is the dipping pigment.
After the base tone has been established, specialized dipping pigment systems are used to develop the desired appearance of the face veneer.
Where required, the third stage is edge pigmentation.
Key considerations may include:
-
Veneer species
-
Discoloration
-
Target shade
-
Pigment concentration
-
Bath/Dipping conditions
-
Drying conditions
TECHNOLOGIES
FC24-B
Specialized dipping pigment system developed for selected veneer applications, including Okoumé-type veneer applications.
FC24-G
Specialized dipping pigment system developed for selected veneer applications, including Gurjan-type veneer applications.
01
RESIN PIGMENT
Develop the Veneer Colour.
The first stage begins with the resin pigment.
Pigmentation within the resin system helps establish the underlying tone of the ply&board before the veneer dipping stage.
Where required, the third stage is edge pigmentation.
MorWood® develops resin pigment systems around:
-
Target base tone
-
Resin compatibility
-
Pigment dispersion
-
Colour strength
-
Production conditions
-
Final appearance requirements
TECHNOLOGY
FCT - Resin Tone Additive
A specialized system developed for controlled tone preparation within the resin application system.
WHY THE SEQUENCE MATTERS
Each stage contributes differently to the final appearance.
The resin system establishes the underlying foundation.
The dipping system works with the veneer to develop the visible surface colour.
Edge pigmentation can then be introduced where the finished ply&board requires additional visual consistency.
This is why MorWood® approaches veneer colour as a system of coordinated formulations, rather than simply supplying individual pigments.
